| GSS Student Council |

| The GSS student council is an energetic and hardworking
group that is elected to represent the diverse interests of
the students within the school. They provide support to many
clubs and student activities. A variety of exciting events
are planned and implemented during the school year, such as
spirit weeks, grade nine day, talent shows, assemblies and
the many dances. Student council meets every Wednesday after
school. |

| SIA is a group of likeminded students and teachers
who wish to make a difference in their local community
and abroad. Students are trained by Me to We facilitator
to be leaders today and effect change as humanitarians.
The students have raised funds for a school-building
project in Africa, gathered clothing for children in
Ukraine, in their annual Halloween for Hunger campaign
gathered foodstuffs for the local GBF and have themselves
traveled to Ecuador to build a school. This group that
meets after school on Tuesdays in room 410 where all
are welcome throughout the year! |

| This group will meet at senior lunch or after school to
discuss and debate great works of fiction, non-fiction or
philosophy. The reading list will be determined by the interests
of the group members. |

| Art Club |

| The art club works on individual and group projects. Individuals
work could include portfolio building. Students are encouraged
to try new media and techniques in workshops led by teachers
and other club members. We meet after school on Wednesdays
in room 10. |

| Anime club meets once a week Thursday after school in room
10 for the entire school year. We view Japanese animation
video series, discuss characters and plot lines. Members have
opportunies to draw favourite characters and create their
own in workshops led by other students in the Anime style. |

| The object of the car club is to finance and
build a race worthy vehicle on a budget. All modifications
will surround the 68 V.W. Bug. Our jobs include rebuilding
the engine and installing the fibreglass front end. |

| Reach is a team quiz game covering knowledge
across the curriculum, plus popular culture and trivia. Practices
are held every Tuesday and Thursday during both lunch hours.
Open to all grades! Inter-school competition begins in semester
two. Parents can help by driving students to competitions. |

| I would like to start preparing students to write math contests
from Grad 9 to OAC mathematics as well as physics students.
To do this I would like to set aside three days per week and
schedule 1 to 1 ½ hours sessions after school. Anyone who
is willing to prepare in writing their contests is welcome.
Preparation is important in doing well on these contests.
Preparation is spread throughout the school year. |

wood. Then come out and try the woodworking club in the school

| Prefects are a group of individuals selected by teachers
and students. They are ambassadors of the school to the public
and help administration, teachers and student council with
various activities in the school. |

| Our dynamic improv team competes in the Canadian Improv
Games every year. As part of the training there are weekly
practices, several public performances and exchanges with
other schools. Auditions are in October. Come, try out and
learn to "live in the moment." |

a family, study skills, sexual harassment/abuse, internet

| Members meet each Wednesday from 3:15 to 4:30
to play recreational chess and prepare for a minimum of 1
major D.S.B.N. tournament per year. There are usually smaller
"in house" competitions between members of Grimsby's chess
club, and an occasional competition involving one or two nearby
schools. |

| The GSS yearbook is designed for students by students. This
includes photography, desktop publishing, marketing and advertising
and journalism. A special focus is on photography and page
design using our yearbook website. Students will learn digital
applications including photoshop for digital manipulation
and page design. No experience is necessary... only your creativity,
commitment and enthusiasm! We meet after school on Mondays. |

award winning plays that have performed across Ontario. Our
Sears Drama Festival productions audition in October for cast

| Outer's club activities are open to anyone in the school
who is looking for outdoor adventures without competition.
Some activities include: hiking, mountain biking, dog sledding,
canoeing and camping. |

basis to discuss a variety of subjects in French and enjoy
cultural aspects. (eg. food) Ideal for Senior extended students

| GSS Choral ensemble is open to all students from grade
9 to 12 who enjoy singing. We rehearse Thursday evenings from 6:30pm-8pm.
