How
do I become a student Council Member?w
to Be a S Here's what you have to do... 1) Pick up a nomination form, usually found in the attendance office. On this form will be a list of all possible positions (see list below), one of which you will check off. (If you are running for a two person position, only one sheet per pair is required). You will also have to get two teachers to sign the nomination form, as a reference. 2) Hand in your nomination form, by the due date. No late nominations will be accepted! Place it in to the student council mail box in the office, or give it to a current student council member. 3) Attend the nominee meetings. There will be one or two brief but mandatory meetings for all nominees. Be sure that you are there. At these times, rules for campaigning, important dates and tips will be discussed. 4) Start campaigning. This includes making posters to go up around the school, and any other creative ideas you have to get the students vote. Usually there is about a week allotted between the time nomination forms are required, and the actual election day. No posters should go up until the official campaigning week has started. 5) Think of a creative 2 - 4 minute speech. This speech will be made in front of all G.S.S. students on the election day. Please see rules for campaigning. 6) Hope for the best. Votes will be counted the same day they are made, and the winners will be announced either at the end of the school day, or the following morning. Senior Positions Include (List is yet to be made, Mr. Coates, I want to be sure I get everything right) Junior Positions that are voted on by students include Junior Dance Junior Spirit and Social Junior Fundraiser Junior Advertiser All dates for the upcoming elections will be broadcast on the morning announcements as well as posted on this website.
