Hop on the "Dane Train" for the University of Albany Soccer Program
A fantastic picture of proud father Lameck Zingano watching our very own Sahara Zingano sign her athletic and academic scholarship in front of coach Richard Asante. When asked about the signing Sahara said, "These two have been on this ride with me since I was 10 years old. Without the support of these two people I wouldn't be where I am today. They have taught me everything I know on and off the field. I will be joining the "Dane Train" to make Grimsby proud. I will be living in the US for 4 years starting with the preseason in July 2019, but in the long term my goal is to play professional soccer in Europe and eventually bring that experience back to the Grimsby community. There are so many girls who just need a nudge on the shoulder to get themselves going and can do something great out there in the world." Sahara is an amazing student and an incredible athlete, we know you are going to make yourself and Grimsby proud in the years ahead.
SOSSA SUCCESS TO OFSAA ABASSADOR'S GREENS
In her first year playing golf for Grimsby Secondary, Sahara Zingano represented Grimsby at OFSAA by finishing 3rd overall at SOSSA.
At OFSAA Sahara shot her best round, shaving 9 strokes with a round of 94 at Ambassador's Golf Club, one of the most prestigious golf courses in Ontario. Well done Sahara.
Reaching New Heights Internationally
It’s been a heck of a year for Grimsby’s own Kieran Lupish. Kieran, a 15 year old grade ten student, was recently named to Team Canada and will travel on November 10 to travel to St. Petersburg, Russia to compete in the World Age Group Championships.
He placed fourth in the world last year in the 13-14 year old category for double mini trampoline and is excited to return to Worlds. This year, Kieran also travelled to Bolivia to represent Team Canada at the Junior Pan Am Games where he won a silver medal in double mini. In July, Kieran captured two bronze medals at the Canadian Championships in both individual trampoline and double mini trampoline.
Kieran is excited to add to his international experience this month. “It’s always an honour to wear the maple leaf,” Kieran said. The Eagles wish him well in Russia!
